This reference includes languages, language families and scripts. For a quote, we agree the specific language, script, region and file requirements.
Detailed answers and practical context.
Arabic, Persian/Farsi, Hebrew and Urdu use right-to-left direction in their respective scripts. This affects text runs, paragraphs and, depending on the publication, page order and binding.
Numbers, Latin product names, web addresses and tables need separate checking within an RTL layout. Simply mirroring a page is insufficient. For Japanese publications, we establish whether horizontal or vertical typesetting is required.
For Chinese, we agree simplified or traditional characters for the target market. This involves both the font and the language and regional version of the content.
Japanese combines kanji with hiragana and katakana. Korean primarily uses Hangul. Font choice, punctuation, line breaks and character spacing require the appropriate conventions. Vertical setting and special reading orders are included in the brief.
Scripts and languages are different: Devanagari is a writing system and Hindi is a language. Older labels such as Ivrith for Hebrew or Moldovan for Romanian should also be resolved clearly in the brief.
Alongside East Asian and RTL scripts, our portfolio contains Vietnamese, Thai, Bengali and Hindi examples. For other scripts and language varieties, we review font coverage, shaping, diacritics and the necessary specialist checks using your files.
Brochures, manuals, packaging, print adverts, promotional material, documents and business cards have different layout requirements. We consider text areas, image text, tables, text length and the desired relationship to the original layout.
Even Eastern European languages may need additional characters and suitable fonts. Unicode and appropriate layout software make exchange easier but do not replace checking the characters used and the finished document.
For prepress, we establish the printer’s specification: output format, resolution, bleed, colour space and font handling. Print PDFs are prepared accordingly; EPS or TIFF output is a project-specific option when actually required.
Editable layout files, fonts, images and a reference PDF help preparation. We account for further editing on Mac or PC in the agreed delivery format. Font licences and embedding rights need to suit their use.
InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat, FrameMaker, Photoshop, QuarkXPress and Office files are part of the documented layout environment. We review the actual version, files and available fonts before quoting.
The portfolio also includes older applications such as PageMaker, FreeHand, Flash and Interleaf/Quicksilver. Such files may require conversion or reconstruction. These names help identify source data; the available production route is agreed for each project.
The gallery contains original PDFs and previews for Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean and other projects. Labels distinguish typesetting from translation with typesetting.
Characters, direction and print data are reviewed according to the agreed assignment. Personal project management, references, testimonials and current ISO 9001 evidence are directly accessible.

Ideally, editable layouts, images, fonts and a reference PDF, together with target languages, markets, required output and print specifications.
No. Direction, shaping, numbers, Latin text and tables need to be considered and reviewed together.
That depends on the market and required language variety. We establish both before translation and typesetting so that text and typography align.
The effort depends on layout, script, text volume, files and output. Our translation price list guides the language component; typesetting and prepress are quoted individually.
Send us your source material, target languages and preferred deadline. We clarify the requirements and quote for the services your project needs.
