Languages. Service. Quality. Technology.
Reuse what works.
Translate what is new.
A translation memory retains previously translated content. CAT tools bring that knowledge to the translator’s workspace, alongside terminology, context and technical checks.

Knowledge for your project
Understand. Decide. Deliver.
What a CAT system does
Computer-assisted translation is translation supported by software. A bilingual editor displays source and target text, offers matches from language resources and supports different file formats. The CAT system is the working environment; an optional connection to machine translation is an additional function.
Identify repetitions and changes
Analysis distinguishes internal repetitions, matches with earlier texts and new content. Exact matches can be pretranslated; partial matches offer existing wording as an editing aid. Even an identical sentence must fit its new context. Approved repetitions can be reused where meaning and use are consistent.
Handle new versions efficiently
Manuals, product ranges and regular updates often contain unchanged passages. Maintained translation memories help teams focus on changes. Whether and how matches affect a quotation depends on the material and review effort. An analysis score alone does not establish that a segment is ready to publish unchanged.
Check terms and technical features
Termbases support consistent specialist language. Spelling and reference checks can flag differences in terminology, numbers, tags or placeholders. These findings need assessment; they do not replace specialist or stylistic review. An MT interface may offer suggestions where data permissions and the quality target allow it.
Where additional context is needed
Advertising copy, slogans and scripts often need more context than a single segment provides. Drawings, diagrams and complex databases require suitable previews, filters or other workflows. We choose the process for the content and format. Existing Trados, memoQ or other compatible language data can be incorporated after technical review.

Technology at zappmedia.ioQuestions & answers
Is a translation memory the same as machine translation?
No. A translation memory searches stored translations. Machine translation generates a new suggestion using a model. A CAT system can offer both sources.
Can we continue using our existing language data?
Yes, where the format, usage rights and quality are suitable. We check translation memory and terminology exchange before the project begins.
