Languages. Service. Quality. Technology.

A suggestion in seconds.
A result with purpose.

Machine translation generates text in another language. The right combination of preparation, system selection and review determines whether that becomes a useful working draft or a translation ready for publication.

Knowledge for your project

Understand. Decide. Deliver.

From rules to neural models

Rule-based translation uses dictionaries and grammatical rules. Statistical methods learn probabilities from parallel text collections. Neural systems learn complex relationships from training data. These approaches explain the development of the technology; they do not reliably assign today’s providers to a single architecture.

Transformers and large language models

Alongside earlier recurrent and convolutional networks, transformers with attention mechanisms play an important role. Modern translation services may use specialised neural models and large language models. Google Cloud, for example, distinguishes NMT from Translation LLM, while DeepL describes a translation model based on large language models. Available features depend on the product, language and plan.

Fluent text still needs review

A readable suggestion can omit content, change relationships or misuse specialist terms. Numbers, negation, units and proper names also need checking. Language pair, subject area, source text and available context affect the result. More training data alone does not guarantee better translation for your project.

Guide terminology and style

Glossaries, approved examples and model-specific adaptation can influence output. Such instructions do not replace checks for correct application and consistency. Pre-editing clarifies the source text; post-editing improves the output against the agreed quality target. A sample helps establish whether this route is more suitable than a new specialist translation.

APIs and technical integration

Translation interfaces can be integrated into CMS platforms, shops and applications. Real-time features, supported languages, file limits and data processing vary by service. Computing requirements and deployment depend on the solution; machine translation does not inherently require a public online service. Access rights, storage and permitted processing are clarified beforehand.

Questions & answers

Can the result be published directly?

Public or technically important content should have a suitable review process. Readability alone establishes neither completeness nor accuracy.

Which system is best?

That can only be assessed for a specific use. We consider the language pair, subject area, data protection requirements and the results of a suitable sample.
