Knowledge for your project.

Prepare documents before translation

A translation project includes the language work and supporting tasks. Before production, project management checks files, volume and requirements. PDFs or other formats that are difficult to edit may require conversion or text recognition.

Preparation takes account of the original structure and formatting where possible. What can be retained technically and which output is needed are established from the file.

Maintain translation memory and terminology

Repetitions and earlier versions are analysed with suitable software. A translation memory stores corresponding source and target segments. A terminology database contains concepts, approved terms and usage guidance. Both support translators but perform different roles.

These language resources can be maintained through subsequent projects. Previously approved content may be reused after checking its new context. Whether and how matches affect pricing depends on the material and editing effort required.

Select suitable specialists

For your project, language combination, subject area, text type and capacity are matched to the participating translators’ skills. Project management and OTM support commission organisation and documented performance assessment.

Formal and linguistic quality assessments help apply experience from completed projects to future work. Relevant requirements and customer guidance are recorded in the brief.

Coordinate questions, changes and deadlines

After prepared files are handed over, project management supports the commission in progress. Questions are consolidated, answers shared and deadlines monitored. You communicate with a contact who understands the project context.

Additional text and change requests need to be assigned to the right file version and affected language versions. Their potential impact on effort and schedule is agreed with you.

Review, deliver and retain knowledge

Before delivery, the agreed formal and linguistic checks are performed. Depending on the service scope, project managers and qualified reviewers, proofreaders or editors are involved. Customer terminology and necessary corrections are taken into account; language resources can be maintained accordingly.

This coordinated approach supports a traceable workflow across multiple languages and contributors. Quality management is ISO 9001 certified and information security management conforms to ISO 27001. Current documents and explanations are available on the quality page.
